Showers are likely throughout Monday, with temperatures falling into the upper 30s by late morning and gusty north winds adding to the chill<\/strong>. Thunderstorms are possible this afternoon, and rain could briefly mix with snow overnight, though little to no accumulation is expected. Overnight lows will dip to around 31.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday stays cool and damp, with highs near the mid-40s and more showers likely through the day and evening. Another round of afternoon thunderstorms is possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday brings a slight warmup, with highs nearing 60<\/strong>, though showers and possible afternoon thunderstorms remain in the forecast before conditions begin drying out later in the week.<\/p>\n<h3>Boulder County offers free PFAS testing for private wells<\/h3>\n<p>Boulder County private well owners can now apply for free testing for PFAS, a group of human-made \u201cforever chemicals\u201d linked to health risks including higher cholesterol, immune system impacts and cancers. <strong>The testing program, offered through Boulder County Public Health and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, is available while supplies last and includes a mailed sampling kit and prepaid return shipping<\/strong>. Some participants may also qualify for free water filters.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement comes as the City of Boulder released its 2026 drinking water quality report, which found no detectable PFAS in the city\u2019s drinking water. Boulder\u2019s water system draws from high-elevation mountain sources including Barker Reservoir, North Boulder Creek, Carter Lake and Boulder Reservoir.<\/p>\n<p>The free PFAS testing program is only available to private well owners. Residents who receive water from municipal or other public water systems are not eligible.<\/p>\n<h3>Scam warning: Fake deputies demanding money target Boulder County residents<\/h3>\n<p>The Boulder County Sheriff\u2019s Office is warning residents about ongoing scams involving callers posing as law enforcement officers and demanding immediate payment for supposed missed jury duty, warrants or citations.<\/p>\n<p>Scammers may ask for payment through gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency or payment apps and often threaten arrest if victims do not comply.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cLaw enforcement will NEVER call to demand payment over the phone or threaten immediate arrest for failing to pay,\u201d the sheriff\u2019s office said on social media.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Officials urge residents to hang up immediately, avoid sharing personal or financial information and report suspicious calls to local law enforcement. Residents with questions can contact the sheriff\u2019s office non-emergency line at 303-441-4444.<\/p>\n<h3>Boulder arts grant deadline approaching for schools, artists and nonprofits<\/h3>\n<p>Boulder educators, artists and nonprofits have until Wednesday to apply for city arts grants aimed at expanding arts access for children and lifelong learners.<\/p>\n<p>The city\u2019s Arts Education Project Grant supports programs that connect Boulder students with practicing artists, creative tools and hands-on cultural experiences, while the Lifelong Learning Grant helps fund broader community access to arts and culture programming.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The city expects to award about 10 grants of up to $5,000 each through the Arts Education Project program. Applicants must complete a pre-application before submitting a full proposal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The city also announced that Professional Development Grant applications will open June 3 for first-time applicants and June 10 for previous award recipients.
