The changes came hours after Boulder Reporting Lab reported confusion over bike access and conflicting messages from city officials.

The board voted 2-1 to abandon the proposed trail-access pilot after thousands of public comments, opting instead for education and other measures to reduce conflicts.

A survey of more than 7,500 people found strong opposition to a proposed pilot that would limit trail access for some users.

The county is taking feedback until May 19 before deciding on restrictions. The Boulder Mountainbike Alliance says the pilot is rushed and unnecessary.
